THE INFORMATION OF EDITORIAL POLICIES
ITSAR: JURNAL PENGABDIAN DAN PEMBERDAYAAN UMAT
INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH AND COMMUNITY SERVICE MA'HAD ALY SUNAN DRAJAT
Itsar: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Umat is a journal published two times a year, namely in June and December. This journal is published by Institute for Research and Community Service Ma'had Aly Sunan Drajat. Itsar: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Umat is a scientific medium that publishes the outcomes of community service and empowerment activities grounded in Islamic values. The journal focuses on service works carried out by Islamic boarding school students (mahasantri), lecturers, and practitioners in the fields of education, dakwah (Islamic outreach), social affairs, economics, culture, and the environment, all oriented toward the well-being of the community (maslahah). Its scope encompasses pesantren-based community empowerment, human resource capacity building, strengthening the community's economy, developing religious and social literacy, as well as innovations in public services that are relevant to contemporary needs. This journal aims to serve as an academic platform that bridges theoretical insights and community service initiatives, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge, practice, and policy in community empowerment and sustainable social development.
A. GENERAL GUIDE
- All manuscripts must be submitted through Itsar: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Umat Online Submission E-Journal Portal https://ejournal.mahadalysunandrajat.ac.id/index.php/itsar/ in the form of docx.
- The length of manuscripts should be 6,000–8,000 words including references, tables, and figures.
- The article is original, guaranteed by the writer, and not published in other journals/proceedings.
- The statement's contribution toward developing science and technology is based on the new findings/ideas/opinions prioritizing the current primary references in the last ten years. We expect the author to state the novelty clearly within the introductory section. (e.g. there are few numbers of research….; the novelty of this research…; etc.)
- The article is an empirical study. The sharpness of critical analysis and synthesis is prioritized.
- The article is written according to the rule of the Itsar: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Umat, and an editorial team reserves the right to revise the writing style with a note that it does not change the intent and quality of the article.
- The review process is conducted in a double-blind review process with the peer group system, which is reinforced by the qualified reviewers in their field.
- Results of the assessment possibilities articles can be: Accepted with minor revisions, Received with major revisions, Suggested sent to another appropriate journal, or Rejected.
B. Manuscript Structure
The manuscript must follow the journal template and contain the following sections:
- Title
- Written in Title Case, Times New Roman, 14 pt, bold, and center-justified.
- Concise (maximum 15 words), informative, and reflecting the content.
- Author(s) Information
- Full name(s) of the author(s), institutional affiliation(s), and country.
- Provide the corresponding author’s email.
- Abstract
- Written in English, maximum 250 words.
- Structured into: Background, Aims, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
- Avoid citations in the abstract.
- Keywords
- 3–5 keywords, arranged alphabetically, separated by commas.
- Introduction
- Clearly state the research background, literature review, research gap, rationale, and research objectives/hypotheses.
- Materials and Methods
- Provide sufficient detail for replication of the study.
- Include: research design, participants, population and sampling, instruments (validity and reliability), procedures, statistical analysis, and limitations.
- Use reporting standards such as STROBE (observational), SRQR (qualitative), PRISMA (review), CARE (case report), CONSORT (clinical trials) where applicable.
- Results and Discussion
- Present results objectively using tables, figures, or text.
- Tables and figures must be numbered (Table 1, Figure 1, etc.) and referred to in the text.
- Discussion should interpret the findings, relate to previous studies, highlight implications, contributions, limitations, and recommendations.
- Conclusion
- Summarize key findings and highlight the significance of the study.
- Provide closing remarks without repeating detailed results.
- Acknowledgments
- Express appreciation to institutions or individuals who contributed but are not listed as authors, including funding sources.
- Author Contributions
- Specify each author’s contribution (e.g., conceptualization, methodology, analysis, writing). Use author initials (e.g., AB, CD).
- Declaration of AI Use
- If AI tools were used, specify the tool, purpose, and confirm that the author(s) reviewed and remain fully responsible for the content.
- If no AI was used, state: “This research was prepared, researched, written, and edited without the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.”
- References
- Follow APA 7th Edition style.
- Minimum 20 references, with at least 60% from the last five years, and preferably from reputable journals.
- Examples:

- Formatting Requirements
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, single spacing.
- Margins: 2.5 cm (all sides).
- Paragraph: justified, first-line indent 1 cm.
- Headings: use a clear hierarchical structure (Heading 1, 2, 3).
- Tables and figures: placed within the text, not at the end.
- Ethical Considerations
- Authors must ensure originality; plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
- Manuscripts must not be under review or published elsewhere.
- Research involving human participants must follow ethical guidelines, with approval from an appropriate ethics committee.
